- "I want these “…and I’m a communist” dumbshits to have a Coming to Jesus moment that they will NEVER forget. I want them staring in to the eyes of every American who knows that government has very specifically designated roles, and are fed-up to their eyeballs with the overeaching, paternalistic, oppressive monster that the Left (with help from the establishment Right) set loose on us. I want those greedy, lazy, control-freaky bastards quaking with fear when they are met with an electorate determined to wrest their liberties, including the right to fail, back from a government that would enslave us all to the service of a soul-killing mediocrity. I want their asses so horrifiyingly and memorably whipped that the mere memory will cow a century’s worth of socialist/communist/marxist acoyltes into an ashamed silence." ________________________________ "When a strict interpretation of the Constitution, according to the fixed rules which govern the interpretation of laws, is abandoned, and the theoretical opinions of individuals are allowed to control its meaning, we no longer have a Constitution, we are under the government of individual men, who for the time being have power to declare what the Constitution is according to their own views of what it ought to mean."--Justice Curtis, Dissent, Dred Scott v. Sanford
- "The very idea of power, and the right of the people to establish government, presupposes the duty of every individual to obey the established Government. All obstructions to the execution of its laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, control, counteract, or awe the regular deliberations and actions of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency."- George Washington

So, for some beautiful mountains, pine trees, and a fine lake, you are willing to accept all of the poison from the liberals. Well, we each have to make our own choices in these matters. Enjoy and be happy with the choice you have made.
Actually, I was hoping that more than a few of them would get eaten by the predators they don’t like to see hunted so that the rest of us who like meat and understand that firearms have a purpose could go back to enjoying ourselves.
Beautiful. Biw!
Just talking to hubby on the way to church this morning about this sort of subject.
Dallas Ft. Worth is not pretty like your pics. I’d much prefer scenery like yours. But I love the commerce, freedom, JOBS! and attitude here.
People are pretty cool too… decent, hard-workers, not fancy or elitist, and have a kind of arrogant-friendliness that is classic Texas-proud! Guess for me it’s a trade-off we choose, and for now, we are here.
Liberty and freedom is the best scenery.
Just got back from walking my pooches.
Had some ‘scenery’ a the START that was gorgeous, sweaty, and muscular. He said “Good Evening” huffing and puffing as he ran up our hill… Yea, he’s my neighbor. He is always sweet to me. Maybe cause I don’t drool or scream like a crazy fan.
Then near the end of our walk, dogs and I were startled by another BEAUTIFUL CREATURE trying to make his way into the green belt and golf course that mingles through the properties in our neighborhood.
We frequently hear coyotes in packs at night, but I had not seen one yet. This fella quietly flew by us about 10 feet away… so fast that the dogs barely got his scent.
Um. Maybe this hunk of Texas isn’t such a bad for a place for scenery, huh.
It is pretty BiC. On my one and only trip up and down the Washington coast in and around Tacoma and Seattle, I must admit it was some of the most beautiful scenery I have witnessed.
One of the biggest sins of political Conservatism in my book is that we have let the roaches infest and coopt some of America’s most beautiful country and towns. And they were beautiful long before the locusts of liberalism hit the scene.
Personal story.
My in-laws have a small, summer place near the highest peaks of Colorado – beautiful country like your pictures, but a little more arid. Anyway, we drive down to Salida, CO, to take the smaller children to see the Arkansas River (where it’s pretty), to play in the park, to watch the kayakers swim the rapids, etc…typical tourist town where libs rule and their women have the look what I call pumice faces – as in washed with pumice. A place I first saw saw some years back the now popular and profoundly stupid bumper stickers “COEXIST” replete with pseudo-religious symbols in Salida, CO.
Anyway, we were eating in one of their overpriced, overrated trendy tourist restaurants where you eat “oven brick” pizza over red hot coals with goat cheese (BFD) served by long haired throwbacks who wouldn’t know good customer service if you coached them while serving. And then they’ve got the incredibly overpriced gift store, where we always buy something every summer and winter.
I overheard a conversation about Obama – this was the summer of adulation 2008. About how Bomba was going to turn things around for the Leftists, make those profound changes of love, and Conservatives where the bane of America’s existence never to be seen again.
I announced upon leaving with my credit card clocked at about $300.00 that I had heard their conversation, and if Obama won, I knew of at least 14 Conservative adult individuals (five families) who wouldn’t be back, and that we were locals there at least twice a year, and that with gifts, overrated pizza, and and twenty people in attendance, I figured we had spent well over $700 in their “trendy” filthy store.
With outdated hippies always starving for cash and scrapping bye to live in “paradise”, money always talks. You should have heard the groveling but without apology.
I told him I might forgive him if I saw a I “heart” George Bush bumper sticker next to the insufferable COEXIST bumper sticker on the door when I walked in next time. If not, C’est la vie and they better hope MaO was paying their way because we stupid “religious” types with the money weren’t anymore.
Make that scraping…
If I saw one of those COEXIST bumper sticker on the door, I would have never entered to begin with. They would never get my business.
Nice photos. What sort of camera are you using?
Lumix DMC-FS15.
Small, lightweight, Leica optics, killer battery life, great features, and not too much money.
absolutely gorgeous.
I long for the day when I can live where there are seasons
Great story Tex. I know that Salida area. Spent a lot of time around there in summer hiking and camping and in winter for skiing. Have family in Pueblo just east of there.
PJM. Some folks think your area is one of the most beautiful areas in the world. It mimics the Mediterranean coast and all its bounty and beauty. I know you are enjoying it while you can, cause that’s just how you roll, Sweetie!
What!?? No comments about my links??! (iffin ya want, links are on the words in uppercase in comment above, just sayin’)
My sister and her husband live in Seattle – they love it. It was a beautiful and fun when we visited them.
They love it there, but they vacation in Italy (wine snobs).
Cathy – I live in “central” Mass – it is actually a wonderful area. Rolling hills (two or three big enough for ski areas – not a draw for me), rivers and ponds. I live in a very small town near the N.H. border – we are rural enough to have all sorts of wildlife – coyotes and black bear and fishercats and a (rumored) mountain lion. And we’re only 35 miles from Boston. Coyotes are, in my mind, walking target practice. Not much use for them, and the 2nd most important reason I carry a pistol when walking my dogs in the woods.
I have heard it claimed that the deer population in parts of Mass now is higher than when the Pilgrims arrived – very controlled hunting. And it is more forested than in the 1800s – more effiecent and fewer farms. At the rate things are going, Maine, N.H., Vermont and parts of Mass may return to the wild completely in 50 years or so – no jobs, no people.
Okay, Agile. Feelin’ stoopid now. Um… we’ve met.
Sorry I’m just now making the connection.
Meh luv ur pooch. What a sweetie.
Everybody enjoyed you bringing your special dog.
Sorry you had to leave early.
Maybe next year, huh…?
Is this your truck Tex?
http://eye-on-the-world.blogspot.com/2010/08/how-can-you-not-like-texas-when-cars.html
No, but I wish it was. I especially liked the pictures on the side windows.
I lived in Bremerton for four years, courtesy of the U.S. Navy. I loved it. I’m originally from Montana, so to have the mountains and nature so close, coupled with a major city near by when I felt like being civilized- I couldn’t find a better place.
In fact, I’m thinking of retiring on the peninsula. I’m with you a 100%, I love Washington.
Just thought I’d ask Tex
Not bad BiW … a post with a terrible title leading to a beautiful article.
You know I suspect some of those malignant liberals might be living there for the very same reason you do. The beauty of nature transcends political affiliation.
Three words for you.
Blue.
Ridge.
Parkway.
Been to the Left Coast (all three states of it, yippee). Didn’t leave anything. No reason to ever go back.
There is more than one coast and more than one mountain range in these United States. You owe it to yourself to see a bit more of the country.
Larry. Agree.
Been to the Blue Ridge Parkway and have great memories and photos of that area. Enjoyed white water rafting around there too. Woo-hoo. Talk about therapy!
One of the prettiest places on earth (for me) is Hunt, Texas along the Guadalupe River. So peaceful and… well folks just gotta see for themselves.
I’m so proud of all you guys. Not one useless political discussion or statement.
“R”,
Yes, but the hideousness of liberalism transcends even nature.
Looks like a lot of good space to bury a liberal.
(for you Dick).
Lmao!
Great Tex, you just had to ruin the streak Dick was complimenting us on. Tigre missed the honor by 16 minutes.
How fortunate we are to be able to pick and choose a location to live in that meets so many of our own personal requirements, rather than being constrained to a depressing, ugly locality for the duration of our lives. In America we are blessed with freedoms that many other countries can only dream of.
Then and Now…

Sums it up. Drones dont look if you dont want to get pissed off.
So – BiW – I have been in blog silence mode for about a month and thus this comment is late in arriving. Part of the silence was because I myself was traveling to the Northwest to drop my daughter off at college. It always makes me homesick to travel to the northwest. Your photos have a similar effect on me.
So was it intentional that your last two pictures include really ugly clear cuts?
Tex asks:
One of the biggest sins of political Conservatism in my book is that we have let the roaches infest and coopt some of America’s most beautiful country and towns.
Ummmm…. perhaps because you would cut down all the trees and strip away all the hillsides all in the name of business and profit?
And daddy won’t you take me back to Muhlenberg County
Down by the Green River where Paradise lay
Well, I’m sorry my son, but you’re too late in asking
Mister Peabody’s coal train has hauled it away
– John Prine
So was it intentional that your last two pictures include really ugly clear cuts?
It was intentional that they showed the western side of the Hood Canal visible at that point in the hike. And it didn’t strike me as “ugly clear cuts”, as it appeared to be green. But then, seeing the really ugly clear cutting that forest fires have made, I’m in favor of logging as a responsible forestry practice, rather than just letting forests be forests.
