We made a conscious decision not to go overboard this year, and I am convinced that it was the right decision.
This is the first year that the boys have not completely lost their minds. Most of my anxiety was wrapped up in getting the house ready for company and making Christmas Dinner.
We had a superb meal, wonderful munchies and leftovers, and the boys have managed to play more or less quietly. Mrs. BiW loves her “surprise” gift, and although Santa didn’t leave one of these in the driveway for me
I think the words “Ultimate Fan Pack” might have swayed Santa a bit.
I hope you all had a great Christmas.

I didn’t peg you as a trekki, but now that I think about, I can see it.
Very cool.
Merry Christmas!
Ohhh…the Ultimate Fan Pack. That’s why I like you.
I know the originals by heart, almost all of TNG by heart (though it got a little preachy and PC the first year or two), hated DS9, got to where I liked Voyager, a few of the movies were okay but could have been better, and started losing interest thereafter…until last year.
The newest movie was excellent. Didn’t think they could pull it off.
I consider myself a Trekkie because I actually watched the originals when they were the originals. Damn, I feel old.
We have to disagree here, Tex.
Sisko I would have followed anywhere. He was the right combination of spiritualist and bad-ass that when he spoke, it was like EF Hutton…everyone listened, and he surrounded himself with a crew that meant business.
Janeway, on the other hand, I would have mutinied against in the first week. It would have been either her going out an airlock or me. Period. I liked the rest of the crew just fine, but it was clear that only Parris was as wrankled by her arbitrary and capreciousness as much as I was, and look what it got him.
But we do agree. The last film was madfun, and the casting was inspired.
Sisko was okay BIC, but I always thought the story lines were lame until they started heading out of the quadrant and more into the worm hole to fight!
I liked Voyager not because of the crew which I found somewhat lame, but they were always fighting the Borg those last three years.
And the episodes with the Borg I thought the best of the TNG series too.
IMPORTANT REVISION:
The Wrath of Khan rates 5 stars! Bad memory…
I got my girlfriend Star Wars Christmas cookie cutters! Nothing says Christmas like a Dearth Vader Head sugar cookie!
Merry Christmas BiW. Nice site. Lots of good content. I will be back often and include a link on HM.
Chuck
Sweet! When she makes the cookies, you can come up from behind, cup your fingers over your mouth, and to the whole “hhoooohaaaaaahoooooohaaaaaa” thing.
Tex, you are not alone. I too remember watching the original series when it FIRST appeared on the (at least in my house) black and white screen. Also remember signing more than one petition to keep the show on the air.
Wrath of Khan rocked. The latest incarnation of the franchise (assuming the follow ups continue the trend) is as close to an honest resurrection of the original as I could hope to see. May they live long and prosper!!
