The punishment which the wise suffer who refuse to take part in the government, is to live under the government of worse men.

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.

Let’s re-elect him. Because nothing says “On the ball” like campaigning in Vegas and Letterman appearances while embassies are being stormed and the bodies of Americans within assume room temperature.
Maybe if the protestors in London storm the embassy there, we can expect some reaction from President Present then. I’m sure he’d love to take some action against the British.
*eyeroll*
And the dominoes falling is “Barry’s” fault how? If Obama had that a$$hole Terry Jones locked up for inciting riot, you’d be screaming FIRST AMENDMENT from the rooftops.
The fact is we have a group of crazed religious fanatics who look for an excuse to be outraged and we have a small minority of American dingbats who like to oblige them. It’s a recipe for disaster. What is a POTUS to do about it?
Start by not projecting weakness. (Obama Grade: FAIL)
Continue by not snubbing out allies in that part of the world. (Obama Grade: FAIL)
Finish by letting the marines in the embassies DEFEND OUR SOIL there, and if the primative rockheads STILL don’t get the point, then make the introduction to Allah for them. (Obama Grade:…we can’t grade him yet…he’s still bowing).
Quit engaging in the dangerous fantasy that this is about “abuses at the edges of Free Speech”. I don’t care if someone posted footage of Mohammad buggering ever goat in his neighbor’s goatpen. Riots, Murder and other acts of war are not appropriate responses made by people who don’t want to end up smears on the pavement. You have a child, Rutherford. Do you apologize and make excuses for bad behavior from them, because you exercise your prerogative as a parent and tell them something they don’t want to hear? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Now magnify that by 10000000, and give them nuclear weapons to have their tantrums with.
Let’s go point by point:
Start by not projecting weakness. (Obama Grade: FAIL)
This is a figment of your imagination. I doubt a single dead al Qaeda operative from the past four years finds us weak.
Continue by not snubbing out allies in that part of the world. (Obama Grade: FAIL)
More nonsense. When folks want freedom from a dictator, who is at the head of the line saying we should support them? YOU and your “spread democracy” gang. In the case of Mubarak, apparently our ally was somewhat of a thug and the people got tired of him. If Bush had taken the side of the people you’d be parading naked down the street. Obama — not so much.
Finish by letting the marines in the embassies DEFEND OUR SOIL
Obviously neither of us is an expert on foreign policy but let me share what I’ve heard. It is the obligation of the HOST country to protect our embassy. We are NOT supposed to have our armies protecting our embassies. When a host country proves unwilling or unable to protect an embassy, we close down the embassy and move it out. THAT from what I understand is the proper protocol.
And yes BiW fine move there …. have our soldiers start shooing foreign nationals. You really DO want a war don’t you?
Quit engaging in the dangerous fantasy that this is about “abuses at the edges of Free Speech”.
My daughter, nor your son, are radicalized Muslims. So the notion that we should apply our child rearing techniques to Cairo and Benghazi is quaint and very naive. While human/animal comparisons are offensive, this one is inevitable. I would NEVER advise my daughter to tease a rabid dog or a pit bull. Radical Muslims have proven they are NOT going to change their MO. Their reaction to what WE view as offensive insults which should be denounced or ignored, is as predictable as day following night. They get violent. Do we condone their violence? No. But do we face it as a reality and not go out of our way to trigger it? Damn straight we do. Terry Jones does us NO FAVORS with his foolishness. Why is it so hard for you to condemn BOTH participants in this fiasco … the offender and the wacko-reacting offended?
“Shooing” should have been “shooting”.
I doubt a single dead al Qaeda operative from the past four years finds us weak
Obama is weak. Our soldiers and Marines are not.
Continue by not snubbing out allies in that part of the world. (Obama Grade: FAIL)
More nonsense.
Obama said that Egypt was not our ally or our enemy. Funny, I thought Carter signed a peace treaty that was also signed by Anwar Sadat. The State Dept had to issue a correction on the President.
Netanyahu asked for a meeting with Obama. In theory, Israel, a democracy in the Middle East, is our ally. The President turned Bibi down in order to make his appearance on David Letterman.
It is the obligation of the HOST country to protect our embassy. We are NOT supposed to have our armies protecting our embassies.
The wake up call should have been in June, with an attempted bombing of the same embassy and a rocket attack on the British ambassador.
You and the MSM keep blaming it on this stupid film. How do you explain this?

By the way, while embassies are burning, Obama would like to remind you that it’s not too late to make a donation and have dinner with Beyonce and Jay-Z. Because it’s more important for him to keep his job than to be concerned about Americans dying.
This is a figment of your imagination. I doubt a single dead al Qaeda operative from the past four years finds us weak.
al Qaeda operatives WANT to be dead. That’s why they strap bombs on themselves and fly airliners into buildings. The fact that they are dead has no bearing on whether or not they believed we are weak. And when our “leaders” continue to engage in the belief that Americans must curtail their rights in order to prevent splodeydopes and Assholes for Allah from being splodeydopes and Assholes for Allah, it screams weakness.
Ummm, no. First of all, I was never lockstep with Bush, and secondly, the policy you complain of would have its roots in a Democrat’s administration.
And for the record, I’m talking about President Present’s DEPLORABLE behavior toward Israel and Bibi.
Quit playing lawyer, and presuming what I do and do not know.
Having been a guest in one of our embassies not too many administrations ago, I can assure you that the Marines are in charge of Embassy security, they were armed, and that thery are there to guard and protect the United States; property which is the Embassy.
And yes BiW fine move there …. have our soldiers start shooing foreign nationals. You really DO want a war don’t you?
Rutherford…ATTACKING our embassies IS an act of war. This isn’t a question of nuance. It is a FACT.
Rutherford, either they grow up and start acting like human beings, capable of self-restraint and a minimum of tolerance that the rest of humanity has proven itself capable of, or they can meet Allah and rage in his embassies. BUT you NEVER, EVER apologize for the expression of a right, no matter how ridiculous or “offensive” that expression is, and you NEVER curtail the expression of that right in order to assuage the delicate and sensitive feelings of people who will kill you or your countrymen for doing so.
I just listened to Hillary speak at the return home of the bodies of those killed in the Libyan Embassy raid. I got the sense that she doesn’t believe our enemies want to kill her. Just the extremists that are connected with this “movie.” It seems to me that Hillary and the administration think that America – along with Egypt, Libya, and the rest joining in the anti-American protests in the Middle East – have an enemy in common. It doesn’t occur to them that they are also hated. They seem oblivious to the very idea.
Very surreal images on the small screen these days.
This incident is so beyond the likes of Terry Jones who jumped on the bandwagon by the way. You have an exile community of Egyptian Coptic Christians that have used the US film industry to incite riots in the Middle East. Regardless of the perpetrator, our security forces were not prepared for such events that could (did) fall on the anniversary of 9/11. For this reason I fault our CIC. Every embassy should have been on high alert. (like they are now)
If you are to believe Rutherford’s reasoning, perhaps the best way to defeat Islam, is not to arm ourselves but to threaten a mass insult against Mohammed.
That notion was actually suggested by Pfesser’s wife over at my blog. It is an interesting idea … rather than spend all our time apologizing, just go all in and have the whole damn thing explode at once. Get it over with.
Hmph. Strange. No one from the State Department bothered to blame away the suicide bomber attack on the U.S. consulate in Pakistan on September 3rd on this Sam Bacile/Coptic Christian video or Terry Jones. Of course, no Americans died there, they were only injured. However, there were 2 Pakistanis killed. No reason for anyone to blame a video or start creating a scapegoat for that I guess. But once it happened again a little over a week later on the anniversary of 9/11 and a US ambassador perished, then it’s the fault of a video!!11!1!!eleventy!1!!!

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. I’m buying that one.
A word of advice to Rutherford…
First the Embassy in Libya was not protected to the degree it should’ve been. It is also in evidence that Cairo security measures were suspect.
As the dominoes fall we see that regardless of steps by more responsible folks the imams are helping spread this.
Lastly if you think the Muslim world has anything left in the “we love BHO” tank you’re mistaken. US Libya response was lacking in their views and do we need to get started on how a few of these countries view the Obama drone-a-thon?
Not for nothing R but you can’t have it your way…this ain’t Burger King
