Sarah Pallin is apparently unwilling to let David Letterman’s (see also Unfunny Partisan Hack) uncalled for and disturbing joke about A-Rod impregnating the Governor’s 14 year old daughter slide by with out criticism. Such a response is long overdue, IMHO, and I only hope I see more of it, if only to shame the usual lefty outrage and grievance pimps and madams into even notionally setting aside their hypocrisy and speaking up when conservatives are targets of such attacks. In a statement released through her spokesperson:

“Concerning Letterman’s comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he’d ever dare make such comments about anyone else’s daughter): ‘Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands — that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone’s daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.'”

That’s strange…that doesn’t read like it came from an ignant rube. Sounds a lot more like a reaction from an angry parent defending someone that never should have been a target in the first place. But then the Left isn’t known for picking fights on the merits, at least not when they can be bullies and distract their audiences from the larger issues.

And from her husband, a much shorter comment that states more than the few words on the page:

“Any ‘jokes’ about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too.”

I can’t hear you David. Was that a pause for effect, or is it that it doesn’t seem quite so funny to you now?
