The OBL thing?
I’m over it.
I have no interest in conspiracy theories about it. I don’t care if parts of the story make you suspicious. While I generally have every reason to doubt the President’s veracity, I have no reason to doubt the military’s honor. They say they did him in, then they did him in.
At this point, I don’t want to dissect the story, I don’t want to think about the significance of Obama’s golf shoes, and I could give less than a fart about how the entire thing, from start to finish, stokes islamic rage. Eating the main course with the wrong fork would stoke islamic rage and lead to the issuance of fartwas from all corners of the world which have embraced or capitulated to that barbarity. (Although to be fair, I’ve noticed that some Episcopalians would have much the same reaction, so maybe there isn’t something unique behind that anger.)
I know the President would like to continue to be congratulated for doing his job in this one instance, but the stuff I see in my crystal ball scares the crap out of me, and given this administration’s reactions to many of these events, it would be an understatment to say I lack confidence in their strategic planning and prognostication.
A porous border with all manner of evil stuff going on in its vicinity is an indication of unseriousness.
A lack of working American oil wells preparing for the eventual day when the Middle East coalesces into a new Islamic caliphate is an indication of unseriousness.
Actively devaluing our currency in a world where many of the other economies are faltering is an indication of unseriousness.
But then, given the pettiness of the head of this administration, and his willingness to scold, lecture, and generally divide, we had plenty of warning that he is unserious about these issues, because, lets face it. None of these things is more important than he is. At least until there is no doubt that they are. And then, that will be someone else’s fault, and an opportunity for another lecture. Because talking is still what he does best. And the rest of the world knows it.
He’s probably saying “Hillary, pull my finger.”
Sorry, had to inject a bit of my own unseriousness. 🙂
BisW, you said: “Because talking is still what he does best. ” If, by “talking”, you mean reading a speech from a teleprompter, maybe you are right. Otherwise, he comes across as a bumbling idiot.
Those three examples you gave (and there are lots more) are all important concerns. But I would argue that the “War on Terror” (i.e. our battle with Islam) is still the number one issue. The killing of Osama Bin Laden is only a small piece of that war (we killed the Japanese Admiral Yamamoto (sp?) only midway through WWII). Our military is now engaged in three fronts in one way or another in this war, and it is part of almost all of our foreign policy/interaction.
And on this particular issue, I believe he is most unserious (about winning). He makes note of Islam’s major holidays, but fails to mention Easter? It is clear whose side he is on. Like most politicians (especially leftist ones), I think he doesn’t really believe in any particular religion – he just uses them when it is helpful.
Dims would like to run this all the way to Nov. 2012. It’s the first piece of good news in months. The only thing to brag about.
Unfortunately, reality is already beginning to set in – took all of 48 hours. The market yawned then begin to tank, another lousy jobs report today, China once again announces we are lousy stewards of their money, and additional indicators of inflation on food and fuel must be ignored.
Mahmoud is still pursuing his bombs, the “moderate” Muslims were outraged by OBL’s death in Palestine, but it’s the Jews that are as we continue to diss Israel and demand Pali a state ; hear no evil, see no evil.
Ironically, the death of Osama will prove to be both a short-term distractor and long-term disaster if a fickle American public reelects the gross incompetence.
$4.30 up here in Michigan.
People are going to give Obama credit for about a week, until those grocery prices, as well as the cost of gas, reminds them of why they can’t live through a second term of O.
It would be folly to consider the removal of bin Laden as a decisive factor in assuring the reelection of a man whose resounding failures in addressing the needs of America are his most significant trademark.
Elements far more important to consider would be the blind allegiance of the black voters, the devotion of special interests groups such as unions, and the obstinacy of Liberals as a whole.
